Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram also called Shankaracharya Nagar and popularly known as The Beatles Ashram, is a historic and abandoned spiritual retreat in Rishikesh. Once the international headquarters of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement, it became world-famous when The Beatles, Mike Love, Donovan, and Mia Farrow stayed here in 1968 to study meditation. Today, the ashram is part of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, blending natural overgrowth, graffiti murals, meditation huts, and the ruins of lecture halls. It attracts visitors seeking history, art, spirituality, and the legacy of yoga and music.
